"Rehabilitation Home for Male beggars "Project under Mukhyamantri Bhikshavriti Niwaran Yojna " of Government of Bihar

Nav Jagriti has been implementing "Rehabilitation Home for Male beggars" Project with the support of SSUPSW (State Society for Ultra Poor and Social Welfare ) since 3rd of December'2014. Many old , disabled and sick beggars live on road and in the vicinity of the railway station as they are homeless. As a welfare measure, SSUPSW/SAKSHAM (Deptt. of Social Welfare, GoB) under MBNY (Mukhayamantri Bhikshavriti Niwaran Yojna) has engaged " Nav Jagriti" for running a Rehabilitation Home for male beggars. Nav Jagriti provides basic facilities like food, cloth and health services with residential support and shelter for 50 older, disabled and sick beggars through enabling policies and program of SSUPSW. Psychiatric, Entertainment, Recreational activities are also being provided in the HOME. In recreational activities they prepare Paper bags, ropes etc.

Yoga, Exercises and Satsang (Spritual Negotiations ) are also delivered at regular basis. We provide Counselling services to the Sewarthis / inmates , prepare individual case study and update on regular basis through follow up actions. In case of death Nav Jagriti conducts all the rituals keeping the religious norms and legalities in mind. The family members of the beggars (need based )are tried to map and trace out in order to connect the inmates/ beggars with their family. In today's context, we have 46 beggars living at HOME. Till date ( during the period of 3.12.14 to 20.4.14) we have traced out family members of 29 beggars and mainstreamed them with their family/ Relatives. 2 Sewarthi have been expired in normal circumstances at HOME. 1 Sewarthi has been mainstreamed through employment.

There are a lot of changes occurring in Sewarthis living at HOME . They have adopted themselves as normal Human beings at HOME and left out the life of beggary . They feel comfortable and amiable while living and availing all the facilities of HOME. No. of staff working at "Rehabilitation Home project are 27. There is a good coordination between the staff and inmates (Sewarthis).
